Frequently asked questions
What kind of training does Rooted Paws offer?
Rooted Paws’s approach is positive reinforcement to drive behavior change. That means staying away from negative punishment (such as e-collars) as we do not believe in punishment-based training.
We believe there is no such thing as a bad dog and dogs need to be given structure, routine, and well designed training in order to develop behaviors that support a happy and healthy life, for everyone in the family.
Does Rooted Paws work with all dogs?
Yes! Rooted Paws specializes in training dogs that have behavior challenges and works with all breeds. All dogs are welcome.
How long will it take to train my dog?
It can vary! It will depend on a number of factors, but the key factors are which behaviors need to be changed, how many behaviors, and intensity of behaviors. This is why we start with an evaluation, in order to come up with a personalized training plan for the dog.
What should I expect during a training session?
The training session structure can vary depending on behavioral goals. Some dog parents also want to be more, or less, involved in the training. Another goal is so that the behavior continues, so there is often an element of training the dog parent to make sure that behavior is adapted in the home.
Can Rooted Paws guarantee results?
Quite frankly, no dog trainer can guarantee results. However, we can promise to use our expertise and experience to drive real behavior change. Whether through 1:1 sessions or a board-and-train, you will be involved as much as you desire in the dog’s journey.
